Lyrics

Easter Sunrise
by Marsha Stevens copyright 1999 BALM Publishing/ASCAP
It is my favorite service. No one is there just to show up for church. Everyone has made some sacrifice, if only of a few hours of sleep, to stand for a moment with Christ before the New Day Dawned.

God I love this moment, when believer’s choose to rise,
And turn our yearning hearts to the eastern skies.
Together we are waiting for the Easter morning sun,
To reassure our hearts of all You’ve done.
CHORUS
• God our hearts rise with You, longing to be sure,
• See the grave is empty, and our future is secure.
• Day has not yet broken, but Your promises are true.
• So we wait in this silence just to worship You.
My favorite celebration of the church’s Holy year,
Because each person present waits, expectant, here.
And like those first believers we hear an angel’s voice,
And while the world is sleeping we rejoice.
(CHORUS)
Morning sun brings on the day
And in our hearts the stone is rolled away
• God our hearts rise with You, longing to be sure,
• See the grave is empty and our future is secure.
• Day has finally broken and Your promises were true,
So as we leave this silence, our lives worship You.
